Our Last time … Sunday, August 12 (following worship)

 POTLUCK, GAMES & FAITH WEBBING

Growing & Nurturing Faith in our Children, Grandchildren, Youth & Young Adults

If you’re able, bring a dish to share; though still come if bringing food is challenging or unworkable. The POTLUCK will be great! GAMES will be FUN!

Are you concerned about the faith of children, youth or young adults that you know … your grandchildren, sons, daughters or others in your sphere of influence?

Well, there is something highly effective steps that YOU CAN EASILY DO!

  • What if we were to start with the “outcomes” we would like to see in our children as they grow into youth and finally adults that are fully equipped with lifelong faith and a relationship with Christ Jesus our Lord, and living a life that is “worthy of Him?
  • Then with each of these “outcomes,” intentionally reflecting and praying about … how can we make these outcomes into reality?
  • We will then build a “web” of faithful people to make it happen!
  • Actually, I believe this is how the family of God which is also named the Body of Christ is “called” to live and work together.

During our first two gatherings (June 24 & July 15), we enjoyed telling our very powerful and personal “faith webbing” stories, learned a bit more about “faith webbing,” and reflected on our own present “faith webs.” We “broke bread” together, eating wonderful homemade food and enjoyed some games.

On August 12:

  • We will focus on faith “outcomes” that we would like to see in our children, grandchildren, youth and young adults in our sphere of influence.
  • We will also build a web of prayer warriors around every person who has been baptized or confirmed in the history of our congregation. FAITHFUL PRAYER WARRIORS: Please come!

Please come even if you were unable to make our first two sessions. Some links for some powerful video clips are below for you to catch up if desired. Actually, all of the material is applicable to people of any age, not just our children, youth and young adults.

Over many years, Gary and Laurie Pecuch, youth and family ministry consultants of the North American Lutheran Church have intentionally developed the approach that we are sharing in these sessions. Their intentionality was aided by the recapturing of these vital concepts from years past by people like Dr. Roland Martinson of Luther Seminary. From Gary and Laurie’s expertise, wisdom and vast experience, they will teach us via video clips how all of us with our varying life experience and gifts can participate in this important work. Actually, all of us are needed. Our grandchildren, children, youth and young adults need the entire Body of Christ, including YOU not just a small few. Also, no need for a professional youth minister, youth sponsors or youth committee! Come and discover how you can play an important and needed, but comfortable part!

Here is the “faith webbing” website (https://www.faithwebbing.com/) and some very short but valuable and powerful introductory videos that you can watch:

This is an intentional approach to nurturing powerful faith in Christ Jesus our Lord in our children, youth, grandchildren in Hope you can make it! Pastor Wendy

Help Out: TX Hurricane/Flooding Relief

August 28, 2017

Relief efforts related to Hurricane Harvey continue with both North American Lutheran Church (NALC) and Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).

Thanks to all who have responded with gifts of time, supplies and donations … a beautiful overwhelming response!

The efforts are switching to long term recovery and rebuilding. After sending 9 large trailor loads of supplies to the So Texas recovery sites, the Clifton supply distribution center run by Peace Lutheran in Clifton will no longer be needed.

There will be an ongoing need for volunteer work teams at the recovery sites in South Texas.

If you would like to volunteer, be a part of a volunteer group or send needed supplies, contact the South Texas disaster relief sites in Rosenberg, Ingleside or Victoria to determine their needs. Here is a link with information: https://www.thenalc.org/projects/hurricane-harvey/

Donations are still needed and information regarding donations is available at that link as well.

Again, we are grateful for the tremendous response! People who were returning to their homes cried as they received needed supplies.

The TX District of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ also has opportunities to volunteer and donate to a relief fund. The easiest way to obtain the latest information is via a facebook page that is serving as a bulletin board for ongoing needs:

If you do not find the needed info on that page, contact Bryce Formwalt (bryce {at} lcmctexas(.)org) of TX District LCMC or we can put you in touch with him. Please notate that the donations are intended for Hurricane Harvey Relief. You can mail contributions to
